THE INSTITUTE OF ORIENTAL STUDIES, NAMED AFTER Z.M.BUNYADOV, ANNOUNCES ABSTRACTS SUBMISSION FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE “MIRZA KAZEMBEK – 220”

The Institute of Oriental Studies named after Academician Z.M.Bunyadov organizes an international scientific conference “Mirza Kazembek – 220” on September 20, 2022, on the occasion of 220th anniversary of Mirza Kazembek, who was a prominent orientalist and educator, one of the first Azerbaijani members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and one of the founders of Russian oriental studies, the member of the Royal Asiatic Society, and the first dean of the Faculty of Oriental Languages of the Saint Petersburg University.

 

Mirza Kazembek is one of the outstanding Azerbaijani figures of the 19th century. Being a learned man of rich scientific power, Mirza Kazembek brought world fame to Azerbaijani science and played an exceptional role in the development of a number of fields of science. Mirza Kazembek wrote a number of fundamental works in various academic fields including oriental studies, literature, language, philosophy, history, law, religion, ethics, ethnography, and pedagogy, which are still of great importance for world science and maintain significance as the primary sources. His works Darbandnameh, As-Sab as-Sayyar (Seven Planets), Uyghurlar haqqinda tedqiqat (The Study of the Uyghur on Ancient Uyghurs), Quranin bezi surelerinin sherhi (Interpretation of some Surahs of the Quran), and Firdovsi yaradicilighi üzrə Sharq mifologiyasi (Oriental mythology in Firdovsi’s works) and others have been translated into European languages as well as published, and made an overwhelming impression around the world. Mirza Kazembek had invaluable services in the study and creation of scientific grammar of the native Azerbaijani language. In this respect, his work Turk-tatar dilinin umumi qrammatikasi (Grammar of the Turco-Tatar language) is of exceptional importance. Mirza Kazembek was the first researcher of Muslim law in Russia, the creator of the first scientific grammar of the Azerbaijani language, and the first translator of Sadi’s Gulistan into Russian, therefore, for his contributions to Russian oriental studies, Mirza Kazembek was awarded the prestigious Demidov Prize three times.

In this regard, the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Z.M.Bunyadov announces abstracts submission, for participation in this conference.

The languages in which you can submit your abstract are Azerbaijani, Turkish, Russian, English, Arabic, and Persian.

Abstract submission requirements:

- Must be written in Microsoft Word editor in Times New Roman 12pt font, line spacing 1.5;

- At the beginning of the text, in the middle, should be the name of the paper in upper case letters in bold. Under the paper title on the right side, in lower case bold letters, the author’s name, father’s name, surname, and below it the place of work, academic degree, and e-mail address should be written;

- Margins:

Left - 3 cm;

Right - 1 cm;

Top - 2 cm;

Bottom - 2 cm.

The organizing committee has the right to select, make corrections in the text, and decline the abstracts.
